Nail Biting

I have observed that nail biting in kids often start around age of 3 or 4. I tried many ways to stop my kid from biting -  pulling fingers away, firmly telling not to do that, bribing, rewarding, trimming it to very short..nothing works. Toe nail was also not spared.

Until I got an idea of applying chilli sauce on the nails, I wondered if there was already such product specifically to tackle nail biting issue.

I found my ultimate solution - Bite No More by Manicare.

Price is a little on the high side but it can last for very very long time as you don't need alot for each application.

Everyday morning and evening, I religiously applied 2 layers on the nails. In just a month, the nail biting entirely stopped!

Initially the first few days, you might still catch them trying to bite their nails but those were out of habit. They will irked at the taste and eventually stop.

Try it and let me know if it works for your child too.

Confinement

It is widely known that there are  confinement procedure to follow after giving birth. These are not easy to follow and are often dreaded by many new mummies. It is often a conflict starter with your family too, especially with the mothers and mother in-laws. Myself is a confinement rules breaker and I have reputable sources* to back me up. Yes, I bathed everyday and even washed my hair during the confinement period.  I drank alot of plain water and did not drank much of any of the red date tea. I did not even touch alcohol because I was breastfeeding I slept everyday with air conditioner I turn on the fan once I woke up and still blow directly at me. We believed these rules are passed down from China where many of our ancestors and elderlies came from. China has winter and thus it would make more sense to follow these rules. But hello, we are super near the equator, I think we will get heat stroke first. To appease the elderlies into me bathing everyday, I got this lemongrass...

Teethers

Most babies start teething from 4 to 6 months. You would notice they drool frequently too. During this time, it is good to get some teethers. I have tried a couple of teethers for my kids and found some that work better. Go for teethers that are light, easy to wash and sterilize, and closed loops (to prevent parts from dropping out and cause choking!). The traditional ones are those with water inside and usually kept in fridge to cool it like the ones below: They are good as it is one piece design and putting in the fridge will cool the water in it, soothing for the babies. But one worry of alot of parents is it might tear and the water in it is consumed by babies. Another type is those with plushie. We don't fancy it as the plushie would often be soaked with the baby's saliva. We feel it is very unhygenic as bacteria might get trapped in the plushie. So after experimenting with my eldest, I finally settle down with Pigeon training teether Step 1 and Step 2 . These are highly r...
